Drug Free Shelby County OH Addiction Prevention. In the fall of 2016, the Family and Children First Council approached community and government leaders to discuss forming a task force to share data on how opiates were impacting the Shelby County OH community. With much support, the first meeting was held in October of 2016 and the Shelby County Drug Task Force (SCDTF) was formed. The purpose of the SCDTF is: To share data on how opiates and other illegal drugs impact our community organizations and the clients served, To implement strategic best practices on treatment strategies and education and prevention strategies, To bring law enforcement, government agencies, judicial leaders, and non-profit leaders together to collaborate, and To educate and inform our State and Federally elected officials to ensure increased programming and funding in Shelby County.

Planning, funding, monitoring and evaluating mental health and recovery services in Miami, Darke and Shelby counties since 1968. The Tri-County Board is committed to assuring that help is available to our communities’ most vulnerable citizens. Services and prevention activities are provided through a network of provider agencies located in Miami, Darke, and Shelby counties. At these agencies, individuals struggling with mental illness and addiction issues will find the help and support they need to lead a full and productive life. Fees for these services are based on a person’s ability to pay through a sliding fee scale – no one is denied service because of the inability to pay.

Treatment can range from short-term counseling to long-term treatment plans, and can be customized for youth, adults, or families who struggle with stress, anxiety, depression, family issues, suicidal thoughts or actions, substance abuse, and many other behavioral health conditions.. If you’ve experienced a mental health and/or substance use disorder and are actively in recovery, you may be able to offer peer support to other individuals who are in the early stages of their own recovery. If you are a parent or other caregiver of a youth in need of services, you may also provide peer support to parents and families who are learning how to navigate the behavioral healthcare system.
